RECIPE:  Halloween Bark

Before I get started, I want to wish you all a HAPPY NATIONAL CHOCOLATE DAY!  Yup, that’s right.  October 28th is the day chocholics rejoice, celebrate and PIG OUT on chocolate.  🙂

But wait!  We don’t need a holiday to do that.  I mean…  *nom, nom, nom*  I’m doing that right NOW!  *nom, nom, CRUNCH*

Man, I do love chocolate.  And I know you do, too, otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this right now.  So go out there and have yourself a chocolaty treat, all in the honor of this national day of all things CHOCOLATE.

And what better way to celebrate this decadent holiday than to share with you this Halloween Bark recipe.

If you’ve never made bark before, you’re in for a treat.  Literally.  Not only is it delicious, it’s relatively quick (the chilling part takes the longest), very easy and the selection of toppings are endless…

Graham crackers…

Pretzels…

Oreo cookies…

Candy corn…

Reese’s Pieces…

Cocoa nibs…

White chooclate…

Milk chooclate…

Dark chooclate…

I could go on and on and ON.  Basically throw anything you like on top of the melted chocolate.  ANYTHING!  OK, maybe not veggies.  But actually, given the right one, that could be pretty tasty as well.   Hmmm…

I have to admit I was inspired by The Pioneer Woman when I made this Halloween Bark.  The only thing I changed was adding cocoa nibs instead of pistachios.  Those would have been good, too, but I didn’t have any and was too lazy to make a special trip to the store to get them.  L-A-Z-Y.

So, what are your favorite bark toppings?  I’m looking for more ideas!

RECIPE: Halloween Bark

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Total Time: 2-1/2 hours

This Halloween bark recipe is perfect for making whatever quantity and toppings you desire. Have fun!

Ingredients:

Graham cracker
Milk or Dark Chocolate, melted
White Chocolate, melted
Candy corn
Pretzels
Reese's Pieces
Oreo's
Cocoa nibs
and whatever the heck else you want to add (or replace)!

Directions:

On a lined cookie sheet, place whole graham crackers side-by-side in the desired shape and quantity you want to make.

Melt chocolates in 30-second increments, stirring in between each melting until completely melted. Make sure to not overheat or it will burn or seize up, and that's just a waste of chocolate!

Pour melted chocolate(s) on top of the graham crackers, covering completely.

Place desired toppings on top of the melted chocolate. Sometimes less is more. And more is MORE! Who doesn't want more, right?

Place in the refrigerator until completed chilled - 1 to 2 hours depending on the amount you made and whether you loaded it up pretty good.

Once bark has set, break into desired shapes and sizes. I would refrain from picking up the entire piece and chowing down. Your stomach might not thank you for that. 🙂

Store any remaining pieces in an airtight container in the refrigerator.
