RECIPE: Chocolate Tacos

RECIPE: Chocolate Tacos

Who says Chocolate and Tacos don’t go together?

I do!

Well, that was until my sister-in-law bought me the ingredients and gave me a clipping for such a recipe from a Rachael Ray magazine.  You see, a few days ago it was my birthday.  And what better gift to give a hardcore Chocoholic than CHOCOLATE!

THANK YOU, CINDY!!! 🙂

So let’s make some Chocolate Tacos!  You’re NOT going to believe how QUICK, EASY and DELICIOUS these are!

Chocolate Tacos ingredients

Chocolate Tacos ingredients:  Chocolate Cake Mix, Powdered Sugar, Bananas, M & Ms, Peanuts, Caramel Sauce & Cool Whip (not in photo, whoops!)

Chocolate Taco batter

Make the cake mix according to the directions, except ADD 1 Cup of additional water.

Melt butter in pan

Melt butter in a pan on medium low heat or whatever temperature you use to cook pancakes.  Do NOT let the pan get too hot!  I slightly burned the first couple of Chocolate Taco shells because of this, so there was a small learning curve for me. Cooking spray works too and I actually switched to this after a couple pancakes because it was faster.

Pour Chocolate Taco batter in pan

Pour in two or three ladlefuls of the cake batter, making sure to pour into the center each time for a more circular shape.

Cook on med low until done

Cook until the edges are done and the top has bubbles forming and popping.

Cook on the other side

With a spatula in one hand and the cooking spray or butter in the other, lift the Chocolate Taco shell out of the pan (mine drooped down from the sides of the spatula, but didn’t tear) and add the cooking spray or butter.  Flip the shell over and wait a minute or two, then remove from the pan.  The last side cooks MUCH faster!

Put Cool Whip on one half

Now it’s time to load up our Chocolate Taco!  This is where the possibilities are endless for toppings!  I first added Cool Whip to half of the taco shell.

Add banana slices

Then banana slices.

Add M & Ms and peanuts

And M & Ms and peanuts!

Add caramel syrup

Oh, and you’ve gotta have caramel sauce!  Chocolate sauce would work too, of course!  Again, the ingredient choices are ENDLESS!

Fold Chocolate Taco in half

Fold in half and sprinkle with powdered sugar! It’s THAT easy!

RECIPE: Chocolate Tacos

And there you have it, a Chocolate Taco!

You have no idea, until you try this, how EASY these are to make!!!  These would be great for kids, slumber parties, birthday parties, you name it.  I really had fun creating mine and LOVED how QUICK & EASY they were to make.

You’ve GOT to try these!!!  At the very least, the Chocolate Taco Shells can serve as Chocolate Pancakes!

As always, ENJOY! 🙂

Very cute! And you could vary the toppings – maybe even set up a “taco dessert bar” for a party.

I would try sifting the powdered sugar onto the tacos. It looks nicer, gives a more consistent coat and doesn’t fall off as easily as the little chunks of powdered sugar. Try putting a little fabric bag of rice in the bag/plastic container of powdered sugar – it soaks up whatever moisture there may be and prevents the sugar from sticking together in clumps.
