Health:  Can I eat Chocolate on the South Beach Diet - Phase 1I’ll keep this short and sweet (pun intended)!

I’ve been looking at my website statistics the last few days and have noticed a reoccurring question people are typing in Google to find my site, “Can I eat Chocolate on the South Beach Diet – Phase 1?

First of all, I’m so glad this search query is bringing you Chocoholics to my blog!

FABULOUS!!!

Secondly, I thought I better help you guys out here and answer the question for you. It’s an excellent question and one that I also noticed isn’t really covered anywhere on the Internet.

Soooo, here goes.

Question: Can I eat Chocolate on the South Beach Diet – Phase 1?

Answer: If you’re following the South Beach Diet Book to the “T”, then the answer is…

“NO!”

If you want my honest advice, then the answer is…

“Yes!”

Yip, I said yes!  I see absolutely no reason why Chocoholics have to deprive themselves of Chocolate for the loooong TWO WEEKS of Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet.

As you already know, the goal of Phase 1 is to lose your cravings for sugar and bad carbs.

That’s great!

So what’s wrong with having (in moderation, of course) any of the following SUGAR FREE & LOW FAT items?

  • Chocolate Pudding
  • Fudge Popsicles
  • Hot Chocolate

    According to the Supercharged South Beach book, you are allowed sugar free fudgecicles. That is what saved me and my husband. Eating those with 2 tablespoons lite or fat free cool whip! I also ate mine with almonds! YUM
