Chocolate Covered Monday – Chocolate & Bacon
Let’s face it, Mondays stink!
After all, Mondays = WORK! Well, except for today, of course, since it’s Labor Day and the majority of us have the day off. Yay us!!!
But on those “normal” Mondays when we’re all at work and school – Mondays stink!
So starting today, I’m declaring Mondays at Got Chocolate, “Chocolate Covered Mondays”! After all, what better way to get through a Monday than to cover – or dip – it in CHOCOLATE!!!
For my first installment of Chocolate Covered Mondays, I’d like to share with you a combination of foods I never would have considered putting together.
Chocolate and Bacon!

Yes, Chocolate AND bacon!
I think my arteries hardened a little at the thought of eating such a combination. Ha! While my initial thought was, “Ewww, gross”, curiosity got the better of me, “Hmmm, what WOULD that taste like?”
Nutella
I first heard about combining Chocolate and bacon from a couple of Got Chocolate‘s Facebook followers. They also told me about a hazelnut/Chocolate product I hadn’t heard of - Nutella.

Last Saturday I decided to try this Chocolate and bacon combo during breakfast. What a coincidence since Saturday JUST happened to be International Bacon Day! Haha! Or was this a coincidence? Had the pig and Chocolate gods somehow gotten into my brain to make this happen on this day? Hee hee!
So I cooked up the bacon and got out the jar of Nutella I had recently purchased and tried my first taste.
YUM-O!
Who would have thought Chocolate and bacon would taste so good? Not me! Then again, each item in itself is FABULOUS, so combining them makes total sense now. Duh!
Now I’m curious – have you tasted Chocolate and bacon together? If so, what did you think of it? What kind of Chocolate did you dip or cover the bacon in? Please share! Us Chocoholics need to know! :)

So glad you liked it! I’ve only had the chocolate bar with bacon in it. Don’t know why I never thought to make it myself!

I need to try that Vosges Chocolate and Bacon bar too. Especially now that I know what Chocolate and bacon taste like together.
International Bacon Day? Yum! I love salty and sweet flavors together – and bacon and chocolate are a hit. Also good are potato chips & Chocolate!

Oh wow! So how do you do the potato chips and Chocolate combination? What kind of chips to you use? Strong ones? I can’t imagine Lay’s chips would work, seems liek they’d get soggy? Let me know, I’m curious. Thanks!
I just heard about the chocolate/bacon combo a couple of weeks ago since it was a featured *new item at the Alaska State Fair. I did not try it but I did think of you!
I’ve never tried Nutella before either but know people who like it.
Hurray for Chocolate Covered Mondays!

Very interesting the Alaska State Fair had the Chocolate/bacon combo. I miss those fairs… sorta! Actually, all fairs are about the same, but what I really miss is the buffalo burgers from that fair.
As for Nutella, I consider that an occasional treat. I really like it since it reminds me of a mellower version of Chocolate frosting, but without the obnoxious overly sugary taste. The hazelnut flavor is very pleasing to the palate as well. Anyway, it IS a treat, not something I’ll eat everyday, especially since I’m trying to follow the South Beach Diet as close as possible. Especially after I fell off that wagon for a couple weeks (yet maintained a 5 lb. weight loss! HA!).
YES! Hurray for Chocolate Covered Mondays!!!
I have seen bacon used in desserts before, but haven’t tried it. Well, I did have candied bacon, but no way I was going for bacon ice cream…. yuk

HAHAHA!!! That’s what I thought about Chocolate and bacon… yuck! Now I’m trying to think what bacon and ice cream would taste like. I would think the ice cream would have to be vanilla or maybe Chocolate. I bought Rocky Road or Orange Sherbet would be all that great of a combination. OK, I’m gagging now at those combinations. But trust me, the Chocolate and bacon were really good. It was a treat of course, not something I’d eat very often!
Pringles work awesome for dipping in chocolate. They also taste good with ice cream.

Wow, thanks Misty. I would think Pringles wouldn’t be strong enough to dip in Chocolate. I guess if the Chocolate is soft enough it would work OK! And eating Pringles with ice cream. Oh geez! I can see how the excessively sweet and salty would probably go together!
About time! Any person with some material on this. You’d picture judging how in need Comic Ebook Films are nowadays, some data would actually be fairly simple and easy to find. Surprisingly not. Anyway, thankyou for this! A great deal appreciated!
