Simple Chocolate Mousse (or Chocolate Soufflé ) Recipe

A very quick and easy recipe for Chocolate MousseHere’s a VERY simple recipe for making a delicious Chocolate Mousse or Chocolate Souffle.

Ingredients:

4 oz. good quality bitter Chocolate, broken into squares
4 egg yolks, well beaten

Directions:

Melt Chocolate squares over a pan of simmering water, then stir in the well beaten egg yolks. Whisk the whites to soft peaks, and then gently – ever so gently – fold in the chocolate mixture.  Put in pudding bowls, sprinkle with shaved Chocolate pieces and refrigerate until set. The mixture will set to a smooth, dark mousse.

* For a Chocolate Souffle – simply sprinkle with caster sugar (C&H makes a Baker’s Sugar that would work just as well) and bake at 400* for 6-7 minutes.  Do not bake any longer or it will toughen up.  Eat instantly!

** Serving Size Tip – One Serving = 1 oz. of Chocolate and 1 Egg yolk

As always, ENJOY!

I’m going to try it when I’m on Phase 3 of the South Beach Diet. As a special treat of course!

Ha! I hear you. As the days go on, the diet becomes less easy-peasy and more lunatic-cravings. Yet, I just tell myself I can do this for 2 weeks. It’s only 2 weeks, right??

Ha! I have little will power. I ate a three goldfish and one broken potato chip yesterday at a friend’s bbq. Shame, shame.

I hear ya! I’m just finishing up a blog post for Monday about my Chocolate temptations for the first week. The ups and downs of a Chocoholic!

Don’t beat yourself up for eating a cracker or two or even a potato chip. I had a low-fat fudgesicle a few days ago, not knowing that it had sugar in it. Ack! It didn’t hurt me calorie wise (although I’m NOT counting those on this diet, which is NICE!), BUT the sugar in it had me craving for more. Fortunately, I only ate one of them, so the craving wasn’t THAT strong. It’s that steady stream of sugar I’ve been eating before starting this diet that makes me want more ALL the time.

Yes, Phase 1 is for 2 weeks and hopefully your cravings will lessen considerably during this time. They have for me, other than during my “hormonal” time. Ack! THAT WAS HARD TO IGNORE!!! But I did it!!!

I’m happy to report that after Day 9 I have lost 7 lbs!!!

Keep at it Kim, you can do it. I feel SOOOOO much better, it’s AMAZING!!! My energy level is FANTASTIC. I’ve been walking a lot too – 2 1/2 mile walks 3 or so times a week and swimming 2 or 3 days a week. Nothing hardcore since I HATE exercising. Having a healthy body (I’m not talking about just being skinny, that isn’t my goal, but FEELING good) takes getting off our butts and moving and eating sensibly. Talk about a “simple” solution, but it really boils down to those two things. It’s not about depriving ourselves of the foods we love, it’s about enjoying them in MODERATION. I know, easier said than done! Been there, done that! I truly believe it’s really a mindset!

Think positive Kim and if you cave in a bit, just move on and keep trying! :)

P.S. I still can’t wait to try this Simple Chocolate Mousse as a special treat! I might even try the Souffle!
