RECIPE: Original Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies
MsWonka.com wouldn’t be complete without the Original Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies recipe. As you know, it’s a classic and I’m sure it’s been posted on the Internet a zillion times already.
I don’t care.
I still want to share this recipe with you. You never know when you might need it and don’t have the recipe handy. You just never know.
So here you go…
Original Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookies
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
3/4 cup granular sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12 oz.) NESTLE TOLL HOUSE Semi-Sweet Chocolate Morsels
1 cup chopped nuts
PREHEAT oven to 375*F.
COMBINE flour, baking soda and salt in small bowl. Beat butter, granulated sugar and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in flour mixture. Stir in morsels and nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased baking sheets.
BAKE for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely. Makes about 5 dozen cookies
PAN COOKIE VARIATION: Grease 15 x 10-inch jelly-roll pan. Prepare dough as above. Spread into prepared pan. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Cool in pan on wire rack. Makes 4 dozen bars
FOR HIGH ALTITUDE BAKING (5,200 feet): Increase flour to 2 1/2 cups. Add 2 tsp. water with flour and reduce both granulated sugar and brown sugar to 2/3 cup each. Bake drop cookies for 8 to 20 minutes and pan cookie for 17 to 19 minutes.
Enjoy and thank you Nestle!

Yum! I love the Tollhouse.
For another variation, my mother-in-law used to add one box of vanilla pudding into the mix. Pudding-in-the-mix Toll house are just a little yummier than the original!!

Oh Kim! That’s a great idea. I’ve got to try that. So vanilla pudding, OK, but did she literally just dump a box of dry pudding mix and not add anything extra in them? Please do tell since I’d LOVE to try that recipe.
Thanks!!!
Hi there –
Yep, just add the pudding to the dry ingredients.
I looked at the recipe again. She used one small box of vanilla pudding and instead of the 3/4 cups of brown and white sugars, she used 1/4 white sugar and 3/4 brown sugar.
So it looks like a little less sugar and one box of pudding. Super yum!

Thanks Kim. I wrote this down. I’m going to try this tomorrow and do a blog post on this. I’d like to give you credit by linking to one of your websites or pages of choice, if you’d like. Do you have a link to one of your short stories or something like that? Let me know.
Guess what I’ve got in the oven right now??
Ha! All that talk about the cookies got to me.
Re: short story links. Thank you so much. That is very kind.
I don’t have an e-platform in cyberspace – so far I’ve put that off. Ha! Most of my short stories are at subscription-only e-zines.
I do have one in an e-book anthology that is free to download. [if anyone is interested it’s @ https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/2942
The flash story is called The Mercantile Exchange is a deviation from my usual genre but it sold so it works for me! P.S. Many of the Antho authors are writer pals of mine.
Thanks for the plug. Have you made the cookies yet?
Another ? for you. Which do you like better — Hershey’s Kiss or Hershey’s Nugget?
