Magic Nuudles – Arts and Crafts Fun for All Ages (Not Just Kids)

51t73ogwpul_sl500_aa280_I’m on vacation this week to spend time with my almost 10-year-old daughter. In trying to think of things to do with her during my time off, I signed her up for a 3 hour arts and crafts class at Joann’s. It turned out she was the only one who signed up, so the class was cancelled and I got my deposit back. I told my daughter that was OK, we’d just spend the money on whatever arts and crafts she wanted at Joanns.

After walking up and down several of the aisles there, we stumbled across several neat crafts, but the one that looked the most fun was called “Magic Nuudles”. These “Nuudles” resemble those packaging peanuts found in shipping boxes; however these are made out of corn starch, so are completely safe for kids to use. So we added a couple bags of the noodles to our growing pile of fun, bought the stuff and headed home to see what we could make.

When we got home, my daughter couldn’t wait to start making things. She chose the Magic Nuudles as her first project from her bag of goodies. She read the directions again, which said to use a sponge to lightly dampen the part of the nuudle you want to adhere to another nuudle and start making whatever you desire. I was distracted for a few minutes with unpacking the groceries we also got on the way home, so before I knew it my daughter had stuck a long stemmed flower nuudle in my face and said, “Look what I made for you mom!”

I was impressed with how quickly my daughter figured out how to make the flowers and the fish you see here. She even figured out how to pinch the ends of the “flower petals” to taper them and make them look more realistic. Pretty cool! Not only are these corn starch pieces easy to assemble with just a dampened sponge, but they’re also easy to cut, pinch and mold into just about any shape you want.

I even tried my hand at this wonderful arts and crafts project and made a small cat and fish similar to the one my daughter made. It was so much fun and relaxing to do! I highly recommend this product for kids (and adults!) of all ages. It’s safe, clean, and gets kid’s and adult’s creative juices flowing. Magic Nuudles would also make a great birthday party activity. Each bag of noodles (they come in long pieces too!) are approximately $6. What a deal!

LESSON LEARNED: Buy your own arts and crafts and make your own fun!
